This is a demo, presumably put together for the press. No save, nothing beyond the frigate.

Very early. Beta, as stated ingame on one of the scans. Level design is mostly final, though.

Only checked briefly, but there don't seem to be any post-frigate assets other than music on the disc. I'd not quote me on this, though; I spent literally five minutes looking over that, since I can't get MPXViewer to build.

Have had this since April, but wasn't allowed to release it. Glad to see it out, though.

I was informed that an ex-Nintendo employee held onto this press release-beta for being fired, and numerous people he collaborated with covered the incident up because they liked his work.

I will work on recording some videos.

Too bad it's a fake.

Huh.

Oh well; at least it makes the version 7 kiosk demo easier to find.

I'm still uploading the Gamecube Interactive Version 9 iso, so we will find out for sure how legitimate this is when the demo is done uploading. Besides, numerous other people have this same demo and were told not to release it, so I'm not the only one who has this fake prototype. This was given to the press for review. Also, do you have any proof that this is indeed fake? Developers are known for throwing humor in betas. Example: Check the message in the SNES Pagemaster alpha.

I'm not here to entertain anyone's ridiculous speculation, and I don't care to either. I'm just spreading what I received.

I was one of those people who had this ahead of time!

The "Welcome to the Metroid Prime Beta" text is, however, a bad hack; jokes are one thing, but this isn't simply a joke; it's a piece of text visibly inserted into a pre-existing space.

That's how I received it from itsblah. I personally did not tamper with it. I have the IRC private message as proof that I received it from him.

I'm not saying you tampered with it! I have the exact same file.

I'm saying that, somewhere along the line, someone forged this.

This is exactly how everything unfolded:

http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=154209

"Really sorry about this bs. Being a Metroid fan myself I'm thoroughly disappointed.

HERE IS THE IRC PRIVATE CHAT:
http://board.gscentral.org/attachmen...2&d=1307248151

There is nothing more I can offer except some Gamecube Kiosk rips to make up for this incident. Check Assemblergames frequently."

All future releases will be direct from my copies, not from some dubious source like itsblah. Rolling Eyes
