I've been playing through DQ6 on the DS recently. Great game!
The main character looks completely different in those screenshots compared to the final version. |

I got the DS remakes of DQ IV, V and VI last year. Really enjoying them.
The first Dragon Quest game I ever played was VI on Super Famicom via emulation. I've yet to even come remotely close to finishing it. More work needs to be done on an english translation.
There was a PS1 remake of DQ IV:

The DS version of IV is pretty much directly based on this.
As well as an *amazing* PS2 remake of DQ V:

^I've have PS2 DQ V and patched it with the latest translation by
DQ Translations. Loving it, just loving it.
I really wanna play Dragon Warrior VII on PS1, as it's meant to be the longest (100+ hours) game in the series.
Really hoping the 3DS remake of VII makes its way stateside, or at least to the UK, thus in english. Probably not until 2014-2015 though. There's a massive amount of text to be translated.
The Super Famicom remake of III released in 1996 is awesome too, it came out like a year after VI. It seems to use the same engine.
I have DQ VIII for PS2 but with so many games in my backlog, I doubt I'll get to it this year.
Currently have no interest in DQ IX on DS. Only mild interest in Japan-only DQ X on Wii, Wii U (and now coming to PC).
I grew up playing Phantasy Star and Final Fantasy so I'm still a n00b to the DW/DQ series but very much starting to appreciate these games. |
