Thank you for the update.
The delay is more understandable now. |

Wow...Kevtris, who was so disgusted by the RetroVGS bullshit that he left, is still working on the FPGA board? That's one amazing fella. |

If it makes you feel any better, I had kevtris hold onto my first party PC10 Dr Mario prototype for me for a long time after dumping and everything was fine, and he has dumped a ton of other rare/one of a kind stuff over the years. I get the paranoia, that's my shtick, and I know you really really want to have that dump, but it'll work out. Patience sucks but keep being patient.
Speaking of, hey redeye, you still want to hold onto my other stuff or is there any time to send it back? |

If he dumped it and just has to crack the drm, couldn't he just send the cart back? Or does the drm have to be cracked first then it can be dumped? |

These are Famicom games we're talking about.
The problem probably isn't "DRM" but that everyone who made carts for the system made different mappers, so there's a good chance it's a custom mapper that needs to be reverse-engineered (figure out how it WORKS) so that the game can be emulated.
Pretty sure one of the FEFEA (basically Lost Levels before it focused on unreleased games) crew has in the past released a ROM of some bootleg game that was somehow dumped without the mapper being figured out (because the cart was lost/stolen, I think afterwards).
I think it was Mario Family or something. That one was probably just a forgettable multicart looking at the ROM data and so little was lost, but that's beside the point. |

Kevtris worked his magic and was successful in dumping Magic Kid Googoo! That's very good news considering it's rarity and one of a kind mapper.
I read that the rom is safe in the hands of theredeye, which is also very good news. It's good to be patient, wait, and get positive news!
The rom was given the mapper 190. Not sure if theredeye will be releasing it, but it would need emulator support added or a port to a different mapper to work.
I was watching this thread and just found out. Hope it's alright to share the good news |

Maybe sending the ROM to CaH4e3 will make it possible to emulate on FCEUX. |

Yeap. Here is the quote on why he chose mapper 190.
"because it was a free mapper number. I think the game could be ported fairly easily to another mapper, because the programmers put the bankswitching code in exactly 1 place, so changing it shouldn't be too tough. It's a unique mapper on its own and isn't like any other known mappers, so I had to choose a free number for it."
Kevtris has been lucky enough to be playing it on his fpga NES core.
As I'm sure the question will come up sooner or later TheRedEye will you be releasing it to the public? |

Another question: does he know Daou's games (in the case of Dooly Bravo Land) use mapper 156 to be emulated? I think with the additions CaH4e3 made back when he dumped Janggun-ui Adeul/General's Son in mid-2011 it'll be enough. |

Just got the mapper info from Kevin, we'll finally have these out soon. Need to talk to the owners again, I think one of them wanted to do something before his game became public (but they will be public). |

I'm kinda anxious to see what the hype is about now. Guess I'll be updating my emulator soon. |

Hey, kap. Did I ever tell you I had a famicom cart made of that so I could play it on a real famicom? I haven't printed it yet, but I even made a custom label for it. So glad we discovered that one! |
