|
|
When Castelian was released for the Famicom and GameBoy in Japan, it got modified to be a tie in license game called "Kyoro Chan Land". There were plans initially to release the game over there as Castelian, but the strange frog looking main character was to be replaced with a very chibi knight character instead.
Images of this version were posted on chou_nosuke's twitter recently:

Was the license some kind of chocolate?
I've seen ebay sellers selling the game bundled with candy. |

Yeah apparently the bird started off as a mascot for some chocolate brand in Japan called ChocoBall, but then exploded in popularity with merchandise and its own anime series. |
