I googled a bit, and apparently "nourish the blood" seems to be a term used in traditional chinese medicine. Whatever that has to do with pirates, I dunno. |
Nourish the blood is a rough translation of healing. As in "eating calcium can bring nourishment to the bloodstream". The pirates are probably using it in the context that using this "code" will heal your character, or perhaps give an extra life, something to that extent.
(**NOTE** -- Above comments are total fabrications, although possible. I am nor educated in the ways of the Chinese language, it's translation, nor sexual relations with a girl... but that's a different topic) |

My personal favorite NES hack is the Duckhunt where you can shoot the dog... maybe that says something about my character... |

A game so poorly programmed that it's hard to even accept this as a game, the music is like a curse and burns itself into your mind and the stages are 'most of the time' unbeatable (as in it somehow randomly generates the stages, and every once in awhile, you'll get gaps that're too long to jump over and such + the every now and then industructable boss) |
Christ, I've got that on a multicart. I think the levels actually aren't randomly generated, they're just incredibly poorly designed and quite often subject to a glitch that makes all enemies and moving platforms disappear, leading to the impossible jumps and such. I still occasionally go back to it just to see what would happen if I beat the damn thing, although I usually get frustrated with its shitness about a level into it.
One thing I've noticed, though, is that Sachen's GBC port of Thunder Blast Man/Rocman X actually seems to be based on the same engine. I have no idea what's going on there. Maybe Sachen outsourced development to the pirate company or something. |

Super Mario WOrld NES. I had my friend hack me codes to improve the controls in both the original version and the finished version. It's a terrible game, but it's still cool all the same. |

All the codes do is slow down the running speed, and increase the forward momentum of your jumps. Basically the way the game was made the run button was useless. If you use it while on the ground the defualt running speed is so fast that you will inevitabely run into enemies, or off a cliff. And holding the run button while making a standing jump did nothing also, and you usually get killed cause you can't make a jump you would be able to, doing the same thing in SNES version.
Try and believe.

Im a big fan of that Super Mario World on Nes and Super Mario 14.
I also liked Tekken 2 and Some Street Fighter II pirate. Tekken 2 was badass it used backgrounds from other games. One was like a baseball field. Also can't forget Kart Fighter. |
