I recently aquired more of the Acclaim lot and it had this game in with it. Just curious if anyone here remembers it or anything about its development? Ill admit I had no clue this game even existed and I dont think I could do a proper review on it. Im passing it off to someone else in the community with a release to follow.
It seems the dev went under this year and its publisher was Acclaim (or was going to be, the game was slated without a publisher to the public).
Can anyone share some insight into the games history?
Im working on getting a video up tommorow. Will post the link then.
Game available now:

I remeeber it was a RPG.
looked pretty cool too.
There's screens of on various gaming sites.
http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/679/679397/imgs_1.html
"Pinnacle Entertainment Group's RPG franchise Deadlands gets its first videogame adaptation courtesy of Headfirst Productions, of Call of Cthulu fame. This first in what is hoped to be a running series of games is a third-person action adventure title."
They were hoping to make into a franchise spanning multiple titles.
The offical website for the game is suprisingly still up.
http://www.headfirst.co.uk/deadlands/
But, it must've been at least semi-finished.
Can't wait to see it. |

I didn't realize headfirst went under... shame, the first half of cthulhu showed some promise.
Just because acclaim had the sample doesn't mean they were going to be the publisher. Developers will frequently send out samples to all of the major publishers in hopes that someone takes the bait. The fact headfirst never made any mention of a publisher most likely means that they hadn't come to any agreements with anyone... |

Oh, neat, you shared the ISO, thanks! I'll add this to my rapidly growing collection of Acclaim shit on my HD Loader. |

Im a moderator over there. So getting more people over there who are interested in stuff like this is a benefit to me and people who browse the site. Maybe they have something to offer
That and I didnt think tying this to my site would be very beneficial as we cover Resident Evil stuff only. I did include a bitmap with your site on it, I hope thats alright with you, free publicity and all as well as plausible deniability Hopefully it wont bring in too many idiots.
I cant seem to get past the point where you go inside the "fortress" with the glowing totem pole. It says you have to spirit jump or whatever the hell except its not coded properly? If anyone can get past that point let me know, Id be interested!
HD Loader doesnt seem to like this game very much. Sometimes it freezes after that 10 minute battle before entering the fortress so be prepared! |

For some reason, the quality of the graphics here make me think that every TV I've every played a PS2 on was incredibly shitty. Or something.
/me investigates VGA converter boxes... |

What are you using for the plugs? PS2 looks pretty nice via S-video for me, on my fancypants monitor. |

Ah, heh, um, I totally thought about this (not). I hope this doesn't mean I have to give up my geek card.
So anyway, RCA cables. My TV has an S-video plug, but it's like a $150 no-name thing (19", decent picture quality), so I dunno whether that would make a big difference (would it?). My computer monitor doesn't have S-Video
A fun setup would be a VGA converter that has component/S-vid/RCA. My monitor has both DVI and VGA; the VGA plug is sitting unused (and it can display 720p natively). A PS2 -> component cord could also be used with a big-ass HD set I have access to.
edit:
also, whoa
also also, sorry for being off-topic |

The jump from composite to S-video is pretty big, do yourself a favor and go get some $15 cables from Radio Shack. |

I didn't have any problems getting past the totem pole room. You hit the pole with you Tomahawk. Then jump from platform to platform. One gap is too large, so you have to do as the game says: jump and press L1 (or was it L2?) in air. Then you activate the mechanism, and the door opens. The next area has a bosss fight. I tried to shoot it, and the game froze. So, you might want to try not to shoot it. |

Ahhh damn, I was shooting the pole the whole time. Never thought to hit it with the tomahawk. I think it has a shield which prevents the air jump. |

Actually, I think you learn the dash move when you destroy the pole, hence your inability to combine the dash with a jump. Kind of the same thing, though. Just glad I could help. Be sure to tell me if you get anywhere with the boss, though. I didn't bother playing through again after the crash, since I suspect it would end after the boss. |

Hmm well I got to him, but I couldnt seem to penetrate his force field. I attempted to use my crow/demon/purple spirit powers, but the game crashes when I do.
I guess I can try dashing into him with the totem pole power. |

Reminds me of the days when Acclaim had Final Fantasy VII, Half-Life and the CryENGINE engine tech-demo...and passed on all of them :) |
