I recently found a video of an early version of RE4 here:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=jGRZwypXMFg
If I recall correctly, there were 3 other seperate early versions of the game, including a so-called "fog" version shown at the Tokyo Game Show one year, plus a version with zombies that was never shown publicly.
Does anybody here have any info/videoclips of these other prototypes? I'm particularly interested in the trailer shown at TGS, but haven't been able to find it. |

Resident Evil 4: Hookman Version Trailer
This is the official trailer from the same version as seen in your video clip. I haven't seen anything earlier than this. |

"Fog version" Trailer (which is older than the Hookman trailer)
It's probably worth mentioning that the first "RE/BH4-dubbed" title was Code:Veronica (dunno if this was internal or just media)
The 2nd project to go for the title "RE/BH4" was what ended up turning into Devil May Cry (some magazines atleast wrote that this was because the project 'got out of hands/got too extreme' for being an RE/BH title)
And that now, during the 10th anniversary for Resident Evil and the 5th Anniversary for DMC, Capcom is re-leasing budget versions of BH4, BH-Code:Veronica, DMC and DMC3 in Japan, and that pre-orders for the budget versions will come with some sort of "Special Anniversary" DVD, limited to a first-come first-serve basis for purchases of any of those 4 titles.
(The budget releases of BH4, BH-C:V and DMC also comes with free soundtrack CDs by default, dunno how it is with DMC3)
So one can only hope it contains some goodies related to early RE4 developement :D
[edit]
Figured I'd also point the attention towards the latest update at The Horror Is Alive as a rather nice little RElated thingy was recently discovered~ |

Oddly enough, the RE4 fog trailer features fogs that acts quite a bit like the one seen in the Sweet Home movie, tribute maybe? Hm. |

Bump from the grave!
Figured it would be nice to post this here rather than make a new topic. I havent worked on it in a long time but it contains a wealth of information (and a download link to a torrent for the RE version). Its unfinished as you can probably tell, It got very time consuming at the flag edit part and I didnt have the motivation to continue on the Biohazard 4 Trial.
The site I run is pretty obscure so I'm not sure if people here know about it or anything. The article covers the trial editions of RE4 (all of them) and figures out how many builds there are. Then on page 9 it goes into "hacking" where a staff member Mark and I found a way to activate the debug menu in the trials thanks to some prototype versions I own.
Its been seen before Im sure but the AR code which activated it only activated some of the options IIRC. This way the full menu is available.
Enough babbling, Heres the link:
http://www.the-horror.com/index.php?id=features&s=re4demos
Ill likely be re-doing it in the future when I can find the time as it was mostly published in its raw first draft form (so it may be painful to read). It seems like the torrents died, so if someone needs it let me know via PM or something and I can send it to you. |

Dot50Cal, thanks for sharing. This is really interesting stuff, especially the heat, light, and slow find. Do you happen to know if this would play if it was burned to a standard sized DVD-R and loaded into a Wii using a Freeloader? Because otherwise I have no way to test this out, and I would love to do just that. |

No idea on that, but you can open your GCN and play it with the shell off for sure as long as you have a way of booting burned games.
I haven't been able to find a Wii as of yet so I cant test it, sorry. |

Wow... I remember someone showing me that game back around when RE4 was just about to be released. Any idea when the torrents will be back online? |
