Looks like Nintendo might offer old NP issues on the Wii.

Hey, sounds neat!

I actually had a chance to get the first issue of Nintendo Power once, but it didn't work out. Wish I'd tried harder now.

Not a bad idea. It would be cool if they at least gave us the old Nester comics.

As long as they're free downloads I'll take 'em. Considering though that a PDF for an entire mag would be like, 20-50 MB, I somehow doubt it.

While we are on the topic, I have the first and second issues of the FILE series by the UK games mag, Edge.
I'd love to share them online, but how do I scan them properly without destroying them?
Any tips?
There are tons of missing games and unreleased crap on these issues, as well as general old school goodness.

I haven't discovered a good solution that doesn't involve going to a major university to use their heavy duty book archiving machines, sorry. I've seriously considered just destroying all of my magazines and putting them through feed scanners, just to get it done.

If I had a feed scanner, I'd destroy and scan everything I haven't thrown out, which is basically a few old EGM phonebooks. I wish I still had everything else, all the Gamepros, NPs and the shitty Game Players my neighbor gave me. It'd be worth the destruction just to get them scanned.

I have a bunch of old NPs at home...I should try and remember to check which issues next time I'm there.

Hasn't someone already scanned the first 15 years of NP? I have a disc of most VG&CEs I bought off some dude, along with those NP scans.

This site used to have a PDF of the 1st NP at least - but now it just has the 1st Sega Visions, and for no reason whatsoever, Sonic 3D Blast Beta...

Man, I forgot to mention VG&CE's in my post, I knew there was something. Oh VG&CE, how I missed you when you turned into Retarded Video Games Magazine Extreme or whatever :(

I see former EIC Andy Eddy all the time. He's still a games journalist, going to press events and wearing promo t-shirts that are too small for him. He's like everyone's goofy dad.

He also wrote the additional chapters of David Sheff's "Game Over: Press Start To Continue"

RIP VG&CE Sad

Yeah, I can get them to whoever wants them, but we're talking many gigabytes here, iirc. I don't remember how many, but probably 10, I'm thinking....unless I'm totally retarded and am remembering incorrectly. I'll have to check. Maybe it's 1 or 2 GB, I dunno.

If it is indeed as huge as I think it is, got a plan?

Well, you can set up a torrent if you'd like, or maybe I can send you blank discs? I need them for Lost Levels purposes!

http://home.comcast.net/~turboplay-magazine-archives-tg16/

Scans of every TurboPlay, DuoWorld, and TurboForce Magazine.

They are going to expand to the others too.

I heard Hardcore Gamer Magazine offers .pdf of their magazines in their archive, but I dunno.

Here's something else:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/numlok/sets/1394109/

Probably not as useful, kinda random 1982-83 scans.

Oh, and here's another that is probably more useful:

http://www.theoldcomputer.com/Libarary's/Mags/Magazines%20(main).htm

A bunch of retro mags I never read.

I can't find the damn site I got the VG&CE scans from. It looked like it was going to be a great site for magazine scans too. However, iirc, Chris Bieniek still has full scans of them. You could ask him, and he may legally relinquish them to you. Worth a shot, I guess. I got a bunch of NWC related articles from him this way once.

OK, so the NP collection is 10.1GB, and the VG&CE, though incomplete, many are there and is 1.6GB ( 5 issues from '89, 7 from '90, 3 from '91, 6 from '92 an 1 from '93). How you want em?

Anyway, here's where I origially ordered that VG+CE disc from:

10.1 GB of Nintendo Power? What issues does that span?
