I recently downloaded a Rom called "Super Mario Bros. 3 (Prototype)". What the heck is it? |

Someone claimed they had a Super Mario 3 prototype a few years ago, there was a page up and everything. The guy was a complete fucking idiot though, it was a hack or something of the sort.
There IS a patch for SMB3 somewhere that creates a SMB3 game with nine or ten unfinished levels that you can play around in, maybe that's it. Of course, for us to figure out if this is it you'd have to write up a better post than "I just downloaded a something, guess what it is!" |

Every one of those I've ever seen was SMB1 sans the title screen logo. Pretty classy... |

Okay, your system is acting up.
I accessed the SECRET DEBUG MODE, and ended up with a triple post. |

Didn't you play it? Fake or not, the game has very challenging level design. I haven't even gotten past one point! |

It's not challenging, it's broken.
I completed 1-1 and went on to 1-Ô which clearly isn't a level. At which point you can die infinitely and cannot progress past a wall.
I then completed 1-1 again this time going down the first flagpole. It brought me to the same broken level. |
