Anyone heard of this thing?
http://www.artepiquet.com.ar/onestation/ingles/index1.html
Now, it's obviously a Hong Kong system that takes carts. But what I can't tell is what kind of carts. I've checked out a bunch of various webstores, and they all look the same. Does it make proprietary carts or is this a portable NES?
If it is, it looks like theres a shitload of small NES games that might be exclusive to this system (can't find any worthwhile screenshots to be sure). |

I think it's just another Jungletac NOAC, like the VGPocket, only with 16-bit roms too, using a GOAC (aka MDOAC).
When the hell is someoene gonna dump these 100-200 Jungletac roms anyway?

Ah, thanks a bunch.
So it looks like the carts are proprietary and each one uses a NOAC/GOAC and some roms.
Looks like it'd be a pain in the ass to dump the originals. |

I don't think JungleTac's 16-bit hardware is based on the Mega Drive (or if it is, it's heavily modified - the resolution is higher, at least) |

Yeah, it'd be a pain in the ass, but for as many clones that use these, some have to be easier than others to do. There's just so many...

Actually, I'm not sure about that anymore. I've got the box of a Jungletac 16-bit based system here which claims to be 960x240, and... I'm inclined not to believe that. It still seems to be higher res than the MD, though.
There's a Mega Drive adaptor available for the One Station, but it doesn't take MD carts directly - you have to use special One Station pirate Mega Drive games which plug into the adaptor. So I suspect the "adaptor" is just an MDOAC which outputs to the One Station's AV hardware. |

Just to clarify what you're saying... the Mega Drive carts in question here will not work on a Mega Drive, but will only work on a One Station if you have the adaptor for them?
Or is it that they are just regular MD pirate carts, playable on any MD, but the adapter is made so that it only fits these pirates? If this is the case (and I doubt it) could you get rid of the plastic casing that limits it to these carts to play any MD carts? |

Judging from the photos in that article, the MD One Station games are in mini-carts roughly the same size as the GBA-like 8-bit carts; regular Mega Drive cartridges are a different form factor. |

The One Station is basically 1) a screen 2) controller buttons 3) a battery compartment.
All the games and CPUs are stored in the cartridges themselves. The regular carts are about the size of a GBA cartridge; the MegaDrive adaptor is about the size of a GBA cart, but deeper; the MD pirate cartridges for this adaptor are a little over 1/2 the size of a GBA cart -- really tiny.
I've always wondered what kind of hardware the "original" 16-bit OneStation games are running on. Whatever it is, the sound hardware is superior to the MD (playing some nice samples), but the graphics hardware is about equivalent to the SNES (but no scaling, of course). |

Check out the title screen to "Donkey Kong" on the Famicom 25 in 1.
Looks like Wilford Kong just made its pirate cart debut. |

Aw, man. Why aren't any of my shitty old hacks on pirate carts? I was hacking at the same time as him. Hell, I remember being hosted on the same site at one point. |

Somebody going by Pope Hentai, if I remember right. I think he was trying to make a whole series of Wilford Brimley hacks or something, since I remember him also doing a Wilford Brimley Battle hack of River City Ransom. |

Are you talking about AC2K's page, or somewhere else?
I honestly miss the days when crude Nesticle hacks were such a major accomplishment that you could find huge archives of them at places like AC2K's and Zophar's. Times were simpler back then. |

No, I was referring to that Spooky Kids group, but I seem to remember submitting something to AC2K's page as well. Man, that takes me back. I haven't thought about that page in ages. |

Yeah, seriously. Part of me's almost embarassed to admit it, but I'm the guy that did that Afro Man hack that was on there. Okay, so it was a good learning experience personally, but it's still such a crappy hack.
Then again, I was like 14 at the time. Can I blame it on youthful stupidity? |

Actually, I've been lurking site since the site's launch. I just never felt like registering until the end of last year for some reason.
...so, yeah. |
