Well, it's exactly what it sounds like. Updated graphics, and for the PC. Think Zero Mission 2.
It's actually pretty well done. I was surprised. Although it runs SLOW AS HELL even in window mode. Looks great in Window or Fullscreen though.
Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Check, Check it out. |

Man, I really want to play this, but it's just too damn slow! I can't take it.
No sound either, though I know it's supposed to haveit. Hmmm...

Metroid (1986) -> Zero Mission (2004)
Metroid II - Return of Samus (1991) -> Metroid II - Return of Samus (2009) |

No, just pointing out that there are 18 years (and ofcourse a few re-releases here and there) between Metroid and Zero Mission and we've still got a couple of years left 'til it's 18 years since Return of Samus was made (let's believe in patterns!) |

I tried this on my backup P4 1.4GHz and it crept along pretty slow... You need quite a computer to run it. I also ran it on my new PC and it did fine, but oddly enough, the sound didn't work. Strange thing is there are many WAV sound effects... If it can't run them yet, why are they even included? Hmm...but this was a little while ago, maybe it's improved since. |

There was also a group of UK guys making a 2D Metroid Prime. Unfortunately the website is down. But thanks to the way back machine you can view it here. |
