From description:

"The Zip Drive extension box was designed for the Sega Dreamcast. There is a physical connection that joins the setup game console with the extension box. This was the only prototype in the world. It never made it to manufacturing since Sega had cancelled their hardware gaming console business plans The original purpose of the extension box was to save game scores to the Zip media and load additional players characters into the Dreamcast games. This is a rare collectible item for the serious gamer connoisseur."

Sounds like a good idea but Dreamcast and Iomega Zip Drives both flopped.

Just thought I should share if any one was interested, or rich enough to bid for it.

i'll tell ya what i know about it, anyway.

t was mainly for web content and emails. Sega didn't want to have to store all that data on their servers, and iomega was desperate to get into gaming.

Iomega was pimping their zip drives to any game developer who would listen. There's also PS2 versions of the drive. I only ever heard of one game using it, i want to say it was unreal tournament? I'm pretty sure that was it...

One of my long term goals was to contact iomega and see if they still had any of that crap laying around. Considering they were giving those things away to anyone interested, there have to be more out there.

I was totally looking forward to that thing. Imagine being able to load new characters into Soul Calibur with that thing!

I've came across several, and $10k for one is an extreme rip off. Hell, $1k is a rip off for what basically amounts to a very pretty box, as ace said, the only game that could use it was unreal tournament
