I was looking at this old sears ad and noticed some odd screenshots.

I haven't played through bionic commando in a few years, but I don't remember this being in the game. Is it the arcade version?

There is also a Karate Kid screenshot that has more detailed characters than the ones found in the released game, there also appears to be a minimap instead of a life bar and some weird icons at the top instead of the regular crane kicks and drum punch counters.

The Jaws and Karate Kid shots are probably just mock-ups.

The Bionic Commando one is likely from the arcade version.

Having played through the NES Bionic Commando roughly a million times, I can tell you with some certainty that that scene is nowhere in the game.

It doesn't look like what I remember the arcade game looking like either, but I'm far too lazy to actually load it up or go looking for pictures and my memory is probably faulty there. The rocks and stuff make it almost look like Contra.

That picture is from the arcade Bionic Commando. One of the levels ended up in some cavern, and you had to move past these giant stationary robots that attempted to stomp on you.

The score counter in BC arcade alone should have given it away, but I really didn't remember that scene in the arcade version. Hmm.

The Karate one sure is a good mockup.

The karate kid one looks really decent, at least the graphics do. I did notice the score counter on BC, but I never played the arcade version so I didn't know what it was.

I think the reason the Karate Kid "graphics" look so good is that it's straight-up line art. They couldn't get a real screenshot for the ad, so they seem to have just drawn one.
