1.)Soma's portrait is much different-looking.
2.) The Great Axe Armor is a Rarity 1 soul here, whereas it's a Rarity 3 soul in the final. According to the strength/weakness chart, it can be petrified, which obviously can't happen in the final! This compounded with the fact that Soma is only at level 25 makes me believe the levels were originally in a different order; this will become more obvious in later screenshots.

Great googly moogly! Soma has a Rarity 1 Dario soul (!!) AND HE'S FIGHTING HIM AT THE SAME TIME!!! It's most likely due to a glitch, but of interest is the background; it's unburned, indicating that either the cutscene where Dario burns the plants hadn't been coded in yet, or they couldn't get it to work. And, Dario being weak against FIRE???

Fighting a Manticore and a Barbariccia with a weapon I've never seen. In the final there's a Quetzalcoatl here.

The soul says Enyris but Soma's clearly using the Killer Clown soul...

I've never played this game, but I've grown to assume that preview pics don't necessarily need to make sense. They probably just turned off a couple of debug options, altered some values so the pics would show seemingly right stats, and then put the object for that enemy on screen because it looked cool.

Either something like that happened, or perhaps the whole screen was just made by putting together different graphics they had at hand, it wouldn't be the first time I see something like that.

I think it' smore reasonable to assume that at some point in development, there was a Dario Soul.

Okay, then the "being just a mockup" possibility is ruled out.

That icon in the strength/weakness chart after the rock icon just keeps bugging me...what the hell does it signify? In case your memory needs refreshing, here's the Select screen in the final...
