|
|
According to various sources around the far corners of the intarwebs, it seems like Rent a Hero on the Xbox has found its way out on online.
A quick search seemed to've pointed in the direction of a torrent download, so maybe this weekend's entertainment is expanded.
[Edit]
I knew it was a good idea to keep an old Xbox XDK around, although I can't for the love of god seem to find any controllers for it... Did someone eat my controllers? |

Hey, neat. Do you know how to take screenshots with that thing? |

Oh yes, certainly not a stranger to the neighborhood tools. :)
Guess there wont be any pictures tonight. My connection is slow, so still got 9 hours to go on this download (so between now and then, there'll be sleep.) My main problem right now is that I can't seem to remember where on earth I put the controllers. (Can't even find my wireless logitech controller, which is very odd...) Infact, the only controller I can find is the Steel Battalion one (Kinda hard to miss). |

I really ought to get around to modding my Xbox and installing the screenshot stuff, for situations like these.
Hope you find a controller! If you'd like, I'll paypal the money for you to go buy a replacement controller in exchange for some shots. |

No worries, but thanks for the offer.
I just managed to dig out an old Duke from my closet, although it was missing that safety connector thingy at the end the cable. However, that is not a big problem, as I've got one of those on the Steel Battalion Controller.
Oh well, guess I'll be rigging up the old Xbox Debug Kit + Laptop before heading off tonight. |

Everything set up and working now.
Just have to wait a few more hours for this to finish downloading now and I'll be ready to go sightseeing in the game world. |

The GamePro review apparently had nine screenshots, but it's all broken now. |

Oh god damnit, now I have to rebuy an xbox and mod it. I thought this would never happen.
On the other hand, great news! Looking forward to the screens because I won't be playing it for a couple of weeks |

Screenies
Only put up one batch now.
People came busting in the door, so my opening gameplay got interrupted :(
I'll put up more when I've chased people out of the house and resume playing. |

I'm on the second mission now, delivering a love letter. This game is so absolutely bizarre it's great! It's a lot of fun. The fact that Segata Sanshiro is in it hardly hurts either. I can see why they would have thought it wouldn't sell, though.
I remember in the old thread someone mentioned it started as a Saturn game; it definitely looks like it. I have to think this is substantially based on the Saturn's models and textures. |

Hey talking of obscure japanese games that were localised by a small publisher that went out of business and never saw release despite the complete english version being reviewed by a number of magazines (yeah):
Whatever happened to POLAROID PETE :o |

Playing the game a little makes it seem like translations were complete, but the editing/testing was not. Just too many odd mistakes and inconsistencies.
Though, only functionality issue I've experienced in it was a music glitch at the start of the game.
Gonna continue playing in a few and continue my screen frenzy (Damn, really wish I could just have a foot pedal or something for the screenshots) |

What's the keyboard command? Maybe you can use Joy2Key and have something similar. |

No keyboard command.
It's basically either:
Right Click on Target Xbox -> Screen Capture
or
Right Click on Target Xbox -> Properties -> *Crap, forgot the name of the tab* -> Screen Capture (Button)
Button is the easiest. But it brings up the windows image preview thingy automatically when you hit it, so need to put that window somewhere far away and with a small size, so it doesn't come bothering you every time you hit the button.
[edit]
Quick question:
Anyone been able to access the Gallery section on the title screen?
I just get the "Connect the Controller into the controller port and press start." message when I try to enter it... (Could be a bad string and I haven't unlocked anything yet, ofcourse)
[edit2]
Okay, obviously an incorrect string being called or a bad translation.
Battle mode unlocked stuff for me in the Gallery so I could enter it.
Also, random sidenote:
Seems like Battle Mode data overwrites Slot 1 data for Story Mode.
(and also for some odd reason contains a loss of story progress warning if you say no to overwriting previous battle data)
[edit3]
Uploading a second batch of images now (It'll be about 20mb when it's done). Some images fell out of sequence, as I mid-way deleted a few accidental black screens and "fade" images.
Some of the text in this game is somewhat hilariously great.
(Also, you hear that Sonic? Nobody likes a hero with attitude!) |

There's an .exe in the XDK that takes screenshots too (it's the same as the video capture app). You can just hit spacebar on that to take screenies. |

Oh really?
I didn't know, sweet!
I'll have to check it out. (Then I can just foot-pedal the spacebar) |

I must have hallucinated seeing this after reading the review.
Not much of a modder myself. I suppose it's required on XBox to play burned disks, and not just for the screenshots. Why not just capture shots from the video output, like with the button-push USB thing I have (could put it on the floor). Resolution? Would love to see some videos. Frank are you YouTubing any of this stuff?
Thanks, and may I say happy to find this forum and site. Happy trails! |
