So, in another forum, somebody pointed out some news story about the SNES' release, claiming it a new $200 Mario game.

However, I do kinda wonder where they got their footage from.

(so, if you don't recognize what's wrong:
- title: not even the Japanese version had "Super Mario Bros." on the title screen. And it was the only one to include SMB on the packaging.
- Yoshi's Island: slightly different font. "4" is definitely different, and the "A" is a bit more square-ish
- Vanilla Dome: How'd he beat Lemmy's Castle when he hasn't even finished Vanilla Dome 2?) |

Hey, neat. I recall seeing the same footage in higher quality elsewhere, but it was quite a while ago.
I didn't notice anything different aside from what you already pointed out (must've been just weeks away from completion), but I thought I'd mention that the final game contains a number of disabled debugging features, one of which allows you to walk on unrevealed overworld paths. That would explain the last screenshot. |

I saw that video at a Toys R Us SNES video kiosk a long time ago(where you press a button to watch a prerecorded game video). I always wondered how to walk on unmapped paths like that... |
