|
|
From "Compute!'s Guide to Nintendo Games", in the section where they talk about the (not yet released) Power Glove, this blurb appears:
"The Power Glove is scheduled to be released in Fall 1989. Several games (Super Glove Ball, Glove Pilot, and the Terror of "Tech Town") are being developed specifically for the Power Glove and should be available at about the same time."
Did anything ever come of these two? Protos, screen shots? Frank, do you know anything about them? |

Nintendo Power published this screen in an early blurb on the Power Glove, but they didn't specify what game it was from. It might be Glove Pilot, since one preview of the game described using the Power Glove to operate your spaceship's control panel. |

I think I have an issue of GamePro or EGM with that exact same photo that attributes it to Glove Pilot. |

Man, I doubt either of those are actual NES screenshots. |

Yeah, the characters are way too big in the first one, and there seem to be too many colors in the second one (not to mention the colors aren't very NES-like). Was a Power Glove-like device ever planned for other consoles, or maybe the PC? |

I don't think Mattel planned to make an official Power Glove for anything else, but the tech itself was made as a virtual reality device for computers if I'm remembering right. |

Jeez lehua, replicating another person's post without its original italicization will draw suspicion as to the quality of your other replicas. |

He should've edited it to instead remind everybody that it was actually his post all along. |

Who is wasting their time registering manually on niche forums to get the numbers up for blinds online? Jesus.
I actually need some blinds too. |

Hmmm Research (i.e. teh Almighty Google) showed that the author of the C64 Time Crystal Demo (the game was never finished) Jim Sachs went on to develop Amiga games, so he might be at some point developing an Amiga version of it (or a tech. demo of it, and it's possibly abandoned too), and so that's where the shot came from.
Edit: All right. In his art page (link to original page was dead and this is an archived one) if you look for the Time Crystal entry the image is a more refined version of the time pod (compared to the C64 version as seen in the video), so he probably had drawn some of this game's art in Amiga.
The description of the (unreleased?) Power Glove game doesn't seem to match though, so I think the screen shot was either misplaced or just a place holder at that time. |

I think you're right. It definitely *feels* like the Amiga from that shot. Jim went to work on titles for Cinemaware (Defender of the Crown, etc.). He's an exceptional pixel artist who I think now does aquarium screensavers. We should be able to end this mystery with an email to him.
EDIT: That's not the first time that a similar shot was used in reference to the power glove. Different screens of this game were used in magazines to promote the power glove. My guess is that you're right, it is a misused shot, but still intended for Power Glove as an entirely different game. |
