The premature demise of the Dreamcast left a lot of games up in the air. Some moved to other systems, and a bunch of them just disappeared. Perhaps Sega's Type X: Spiral Nightmare was canceled for other reasons, but it vanished after missing its late 2000 release, just around the same time that Sega started giving up on the Dreamcast.
Type X was a survival-horror title, which is what we called Resident Evil rip-offs back then. It was set in a space station orbiting Mars (and later switched to Mars itself), and it featured a relatively large cast of humans/victims as well as giant-ass monsters. It actually looks a little similar to Sega's previous survival-horror deal, Deep Fear. Previews for the game talk up its ammo-making system, which lets you use monster DNA to fashion freezing bullets and other new weapons.

A Preview from the November 2000 Issue of Next Generation. It sounds more interesting than the usual Resident Evil clone, but then again, the usual Resident Evil clone was something like Carrier or Blue Stinger.
A Preview from the December 2000 Issue of Gamers' Republic This one includes generic anime art and names the three main characters: Yohan Goodman, Jesica Streap, and my personal favorite, Lod Steel.

Which is funny because RE ripped off Alone in the Dark. |

How dare you forget Sweet Home? That was definitely an inspiration to Resident Evil. |

It was more than an inspiration, the project that became Resident Evil started off as a revisiting of the Sweet Home concept. |

Go figure.
That's actually quite surprising. |

Thanks Fenris.
Speaking of Dreamcast this should be a pic of Dark Eyes ...
or maybe it is from Baldur' Gate.
It wasn't very clear and I can't find any media about the PC version.
