Inspired by the thread about Tetris 1.0 I'd like to mention the games I know of where the initial v1.0 release has yet to be found or exists as a ROM image but the real cart has not been proven to exist yet. here I go:

Game Boy:

Boxxle - USA or Europe (same binary)
Hyper Lode Runner - USA/Europe/Japan
Street Fighter 2 USA and/or Europe
Tetris - USA/Europe/Japan

those games all come with an A imprint/-1 ROM id.

GBC:

Monsters Inc - UK version (A/-1 proven)
NBA In the Zone - USA (A proven)

N64:

Ogre Battle - Japan (A/-1 proven)
Tonic Trouble - USA (A/-1 proven)

SNES:

Donkey Kong Country 2 - English/French PAL (A proven)
Fighter's History - USA (A proven)
Speedy Gonzales - USA (not sure if cart has an A stamp)

Except for the GBC games which have just been looked for a few times the other 1.0-editions were hunted since quite a while without success. There are more unfound ones - especially japanese GBC + GBA games but these have not been checked so far. You can consider the ones above as mysteriously missing releases.

Does anyone own any of those missing ones? Or maybe anyone can tell more about the theory about 1.0 versions never being released? I remember the case on the GBA where FF 1-2 Advance was delayed shortly before it's release due to a heavy bug. When it was indeed released the carts contained an 1.1 version (and an A imprint afair). Possibly a lot of carts were already manufactured and to avoid confusion the ROM id was updated? Or maybe even a few carts were already shipped? Who knows.

What about the US Beethoven Game Boy game often referred to as simply "Beethoven"? From what I've read, only a handful of the US version was printed, even a prototype box exist, and someone on digitpress owns the box (not throwing names out).

Edit: I own the German version, and still, this version is pretty rare.
