I've had this prototype for about a year, but because of various things happening, I only got around to making an article for it now. Now, when the original release of this prototype of The Firemen came out, it was described as being an unreleased US version, since it was NTSC and it had an English script. However, I could find nothing that would prove that Human actually had a publisher lined up to put this game out. I assume that this is actually a prototype of the planned PAL version, though they had not yet converted it to a PAL format. I checked through the 1994 issues of Nintendo Power and EGM, and I found no indication of a US release.

The prototype itself is a nearly finished version of the game. The script is pretty rough, and obviously has not been checked over by a native English speaker.

I would assume it's a version made by Human to find a US publisher with, this was probably demoed to money people.

Could be true, though I don't know if we will ever be able to confirm that.
