Next Generation was a great magazine. I really liked how it gave you so much to read. It felt like you were getting a lot for your money. Gay dickhead.

Yes, "gay dickhead" is some old forum joke I've pretty much forgot.
And I remember PAL ZELDA.

I remember both of those, but remember the origins of neither!

I don't remember "gay dickhead" but I do remember PAL ZELDA came about after a few ROM collectors suddenly showed up asking for a "Legend of Zelda, The (E) [!]" ROM (I'm certain it was before it was dumped, being one of the last PAL games dumped I think after all the exclusive games, and probably after the Stadium Events redump marked the licensed NA set being fully dumped. At that point, a commercial flashcart was thought to be impossible, making emulators the only way to play ROMs. And thus largely irrelevant if it was an NTSC or PAL version.)

You'll be in for a treat! There was so much I didn't know before reading it. For instance, the fact that SEGA (of America) wanted Howard Phillips to join them, or how the guys from Acclaim Entertainment were almost victims in a almost fatal car accident abroad, etc...

I'm sure most of you guys have seen it, but, it's very much about the very subject matter :p

They may have released some crappy games but you still don't want that to happen. :(

I thought Acclaim were quite an O.K. publisher. They published some RARE games of course, but also NES' Double Dragon games, and Turok... Smile

But coming back to your earlier comment...

Yes, they did.
And I'm sure everyone was surprised that a publisher of generally mediocre to bad games suddenly became the industry leader. (like Last Action Hero and FMV Sega CD games.)
(I do remember sometime in the mid 2000s former SoA pres said yes there might've been a Sega PlayStation if Sony's resume wasn't so average.)

This book actually completely changed my perspective on SONY. The way they climbed their way up in such a short period of time wasn't accidental; it was meticulously planned and carried out. The PS Vita is the very last thing I have purchased from them. The book made me actually regret not getting a Saturn instead. Mad

I bet people will think I'm reading some weird sci-fi novel from half a century ago or something if they spot the title in public.

I don't remember "gay dickhead"

Think there was some guy that was banned like 10 years ago, who re-registered and went all "ur a gay dickhead" via PM to various people. Think everyone who tried to reason with him or sided with Frank or something got "told" by that guy -- Almost surprised he didn't go as far as to actually even send postcards to people.

Hey guys, I was wondering if you've found any inconsistencies in the events depicted in this book... I mean, we (at Sonic Retro) are starting to notice certain Sonic-related things that just don't seem feasable by comparing dates and contradict other info we already had.

I remember that, back when it was released, somebody was claiming that some stuff in the book was supposed to be novelized and wouldn't necessarily be 100% real, and thus I wasn't paying much attention to any contradictory stuff that came out of it, but... the author seems to be saying otherwise now, so I'm really confused here.

I don't remember what he wrote exactly but after reading his foreword, it was clear that I would need to take what is said in this book with a pinch of salt. And That's the major problem I have with this book: it's often hard to guess what is true and what is not.
Of course, we now know for sure that there weren't 3M copies of E.T. buried in the desert.

Got this for my birthday/wedding anniversary.

SoA really should have made that Sgt. Kabukiman game that SoJ kept on requesting for whatever oddball reason. I'd have played that.
