|
|
This is a little pet project that I have started up. I want to not only have a list of unreleased games for the Super NES, but also have at least a bare minimum amount of information on them. From my previous work, and the help of hydr0x and jbholio, I have approximately 60 titles. From my assumptions based on what I have seen thus far, I am betting that there could easily be over 100 titles found. If anyone wants to help out, feel free to join in the discussion I have on my forum:
http://nsrt.edgeemu.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=457
Currently, I have 39 titles listed on my website, you can check it out here:
http://snescentral.edgeemu.com/unreleased.php
Much of it was posted before, but there is some new information. I hope to have all my current info up within the next two weeks or so. |

Actually, the "Really Shitty Batman" game was something completely different that went unreleased; it was made by Softwork Creations and looked/played even worse than this one. |

Also the ROMs are dumped of both versions, if you want better screenshots than those photos from the eBay auction. |

ADVENT OF THE ANAL RETENTIVE!
Quote: | SCW2 has similar gameplay as SNB, with a fighting system more like a River City Ransom type of game rather than a traditional RPG system. |
I'm pretty sure that one of the neater features of SCW2 and 3 was that it allowed you to choose between real-time battles and turn-based battles for EVERYTHING (as opposed to the original where minor battles and dungeons were real-time, and boss battles were turn-based). |

Anet Futatabi (one "n") is the sequel to El Viento on the Genesis. El Viento sorta spun off from Earnest Evans, but Anet's games aren't really Earnest games. Not that they're any better, just different.

Nope. Maybe you're thinking of the motorcycle game?

It's worth mentioning that Sparkster isn't really the same game on both platforms. Check them both out sometime. |

You're probably thinking of the Famicom version. It ended up getting released on the Super Famicom |

Intersting. I only played SCW2 for about 5 minutes, so I didn't know you could switch. I tend not to delve into Japanese rpgs unless they are translated. |

I thought El Viento came first and Earnest Evans spun off from that?
Anet Futabi had an Earnest appearance, but I'm not sure how close the games are related having only played El Viento. (From what I understand, Earnest Evans was actually rather bad in comparison) |

This game is actually a really good plattformer.
Judging from the dates in it, it seems like it's the last game Ken Sugimori did artwork for and CreatureFreak worked on before going berserk with Pokemon.
This prototype seems to be close to final, as the only issue I've encountered while playing through is some issue with the music in the credits (don't remember if it locked up or stopped playing or something...)
Really good game, shame it wasn't released. |

I was just going off memory, and it sure seems like Anet is introduced in Earnest Evans. Looking up release dates shows El Viento coming out about three months earlier though, so I dunno. Maybe Earnest is intended as a sort of flashback/origin story, or perhaps I need to build up the masochism to play the games again and not just listen to the music. Everyone on the internet loves to hate on Earnest, but honestly I think El Viento is more painful. Anet Futatabi is probably the best of the three, but not very inventive. I'd much rather play Streets of Rage. |

I don’t see The Journey Home (released as Neugier in Japan) on that list.
Smeg wrote: | Anet Earnest Wolfteam etc. |
As I understood it, El Viento came out first, with Anet fighting Lovecraftian monsters and getting all up in Al Capone's face. Earnest shows up in a story sequence.
A short time later, Telenet/Wolfteam released Earnest Evans for the Mega CD (a Genesis port followed). It's a prequel to El Viento and shows Earnest rescuing a slightly younger Anet from a cult. It may be that Earnest Evans actually started development before El Viento, but that El Viento was released first because it was a straight Mega Drive/Genny game, while Earnest Evans had to wait for the Mega CD to come out in Japan.
Anyway, Anet Futatabi is the last game in the trilogy, where Anet fights pseudo-Nazis and stomps on Earnest's foot because he won't have sex with her.
In terms of actual quality, El Viento is a pretty decent game so SHUT UP JUST SHUT UP ABOUT IT SMEG. Earnest Evans is clunky as hell, and Anet Futatabi is a mediocre beat-'em-up with pretty cinemas. |

-Bobby's World
On the NES at least. It's based on a cartoon of the same name. Nintendo Power did an article on it.
-Fire and Ice
NES game, one could say a sequel to Solomon's Key. Dana creates ice blocks and must extinguish fires. It also has a built-in level editor ;*)
Both games were officially released. |

Nope. I have a near mint copy of the game in my collection.
The unreleased Famicom version was titled Nekketsu Yakyu Kozo. |

You don't find that thick pseudo-Canadian accent to be a turn-off? Must be all that talk of wet noodles. |
