When I was looking up Lobo some time ago, I came across some other interesting previews. One of which was X-Women for Sega Genesis, which I finally got around to making a post about today.
Here is a scan I grabbed of the X-Women preview, from that same EGM as the Lobo preview (#89, December '96). I also found a few more screenshots at the Internet Archive.
Does anyone know more about this game? Perhaps even a known instance of someone having a prototype? The Genesis X-Men games were pretty good (especially Clone Wars), so I believe this would have been a solid title.

Sounds like a potentially cool game cut short by a weak premise. An X-Men game where you can play as some of the more neglected female characters isn't a bad idea, but actually calling it "X-Women"? While Marvel probably trademarked that name just to be safe (DC has trademarked every possible variation on "Superman" you can think of), I doubt it was ever intended to be used seriously. Maybe the characters were too unbalanced?
