Praises be, someone finally ripped the NSF soundtrack for Sunman! It was just posted a few days ago at Swampfoot's Domain, so like, check it out. Listen to track 9 in particular - it isn't used anywhere in the game. It's long enough to be used as a full stage's music, too, so maybe Sunsoft was planning on adding more levels to the game after all.
The NSF also lets you listen to an extra second and a half of the end of level music (track 13) that otherwise gets cut off in the game. Exciting stuff!!
More importantly, though, this means that I can finally make my ultimate Sunsoft mix CD now! WOOO! Anyone have any suggestions on what tracks I should put on it? I was thinking of starting it with the full Sunman OST, then moving on to a few things from Gimmick and Journey to Silius, and then finishing with the level 1 theme from Batman, looped for an hour. Sound good? |

The secret song is nice. Too bad it isn't used. As for the Sunsoft mix suggestions, I think the level 1 theme from Batman Return of the Joker, the level 1 theme from Blaster Master, and the main overworld theme from Hebereke/Ufouria would be good additions. |

If you ever came on IRC anymore, you'd have had this NSF for weeks :(

Here's what Ed and I came up with (or what I came up with and Ed agreed to :P) for the Sunsoft portion of our NES/Famicom collection:
Journey to Silius
01
03
06
04
05
Super Spy Hunter (the existing SSH rip is borked; one note in this track plays wrong. The Battle Formula rip is error-free though.)
01
Batman
01
Batman: Return of the Joker
04
07
Gremlins 2: The New Batch
03
05
07
Gimmick!/Mr. Gimmick
01
02
10
Hebereke/Ufouria
10
Fester's Quest
03
Blaster Master
02
03
04
07
Obviously, looping Batman for an hour is not an option with this many pieces. Oh, and most of these track numbers assume you're using the NSFs from Kev's old collection, with the sound effects removed and all that. |

Wow, Kevtris' old archive? He never updated it, did he?
Oh, Shanghai 2, in the Famicom/Sunsoft directory, has some kickin' tunes. |

Not since June 2000 :( I'd like to create an updated collection myself, if I had any idea how to. |

For one thing, adding the recent rips by Xodnizel to the archive would work. And Gil-Galad's rips [which are lacking sound effects, I believe] could have a home there as well.
I can help you find other missing games if you wish. I can't rip, but I can ask around or something. |

I'm pretty sure I've got most of the NSFs ripped since then, although the NSF demoscene has exploded since MCKC came around. There are other things to be done too, though; a couple of NSFs that Kev was a little overzealous with the effects cutting and snipped a few tracks of music, as well as some other ideas of mine. |

..the explanation for why he's named Superman is kind of involved and philosophical, and I get the feeling most of the points would be lost in translation.
Not to mention this is probably the wrong place for that sort of discussion, heh. |

Heh, I'd still like to work on that NES CD playlist with you, Smeg. I've been in one of my research phases and wouldn't mind listening to hundreds of NSFs. :)
Is it bad for me to keep using this name? I don't feel like registering another one. |

I did think of another Sunsoft game with decent music. Freedom Force. Or at least I liked the tunes in it anyway. |

Might as well go for "lenocinor" for consistency's sake with a bunch of other webforums. Thanks, Red.
It's too bad, though. Did you guys see the link in my profile (http://www.btinternet.com/~moocowuk/danny.htm)? I was rather proud of that one... :) |

Has anyone ever played the SMS version of Superman? I was browsing through the SMS Museum and saw this:
http://www.smspower.org/scans/sms/scans/s/superman-both1.jpg
The fine print on the back of the case mentions Sunsoft. I wonder if the SMS version of Superman is what Sunman was gonna be. |
