honestly i'm still feeling a bit drunk at the moment, but still i think i saw this used in a shop, it said "exclusive to (something) zone", a zone i have never heard of, and i'm wondering if it's something that people know about. or indeed if i could pick it up from aforementioned shop and make lots of money from it.

"R" Zone maybe? That was a weird Toys R Us imprint.

nah, it was a UK based zone, i don't think R-Zone existed over here. i'm thinking something based in a chain of electronics stores, i seem to remember a number of them having zones in the early 90s.

This one, perhaps? Imagineering/GameTek put a bunch of these out in '91 or so under the Infogenius name, including language translators, a calculator, and a travel guide. I also remember Nintendo Power once printing an article on some huge, unwieldy contraption with a mini-keyboard and some other add-ons called the Work Boy that connected to the original Game Boy and performed a number of the same personal organizer functions, which I think was also made by Infogenius, but I'm not sure if it was ever released.
