Yo TheRedEye, you like Pac-Man 2, right? I remember reading an essay you did on it before (although I can't find it online now). I'm going to test your knowledge with my ignorance.

I just beat it today and it said I completed 40-50% (or something like that) of the game, so it gave me the sound test password.

So first of all, is it even possible to get 100%? I made Pac-Man do a lot of crazy, unnecessary crap during this playthrough. One time I convinced him to eat a mysterious berry, which caused him to go insane and jump into a fountain. Is there really twice as much stuff to do, and is it all as hilarious and frightening as my example?

And, if you can get 100%, is it worth it? Do you get another mode, or does it just say "congraduations," or do you at least get to see Pac-Man do a silly dance or something?

... Because it would be awesome if he danced. Not the same dance as he does in the park, but a different, more energetic dance.

In all my years I have never gotten 100%, just somewhere in the 90s. And yes, every stupid little thing you do gives you more percentage. Did you ever make Pac-Man so insane that he walked around hitting himself with a mallet?

Now I feel bad for not giving this game a more-than-fair chance... thanks for this, Cifaldi. THANKS FOR THIS.

I like Pacman 2 also. My little bro got it because someone wanted to pawn a bunch of his games. We got about 11 games for 25 bux. I was never able to play it thru from start to finish I think. Or maybe I did, it was along time ago.

The ghosts come and laugh and swarm around Pac-Man, but he's too crazy to notice, and just keeps whacking himself. After like a minute the ghosts just look at the camera, shrug, and fly away.

This game is honestly in my top ten, and I've played a lot of games.

As many of you know, I'm a big adventure fan. I never gave it a chance because I thought this game had the same feel as Fantastic Dizzy. Fantastic Dizzy is fun, but being that there is no saving and a VERY limited supply of lives, the game ends up being rather impossible. If anybody has ever beaten Fantastic Dizzy (for Sega Genesis) without the (single) EXTRA LIFE CODE, then they are worthy of being called "Adventurer Extraordinaire."

I think I just may give this game a try. They also have it at a local pawn shop; and I'll pick it up if I like it.

Okay, so I gave it a whirl. Rented it years ago but I never figured out how to get that damn bottle.

Figured it out this go, along with getting that mountain flower, and now I'm just having fun making PacMan do angry shtuff. As a game, I don't see much more than your average adventure title. But it's still amazing to see what all they crammed.

I got a high-score on Pac-Man and got Pac-Man Jr's guitar. I stopped because it's study time. Time for late night coffee that I shouldn't have and cramming.

Great game.

This game reminds me of Wonder Project J for SFC and Wonder Project J2 for N64. How I wish the second one was translated.

I actually have the cart somewhere of Wonder Project J2 at one of my folks' houses.

[Overpost]

This game... is really... wow... beautiful... I really have gained a new respect for Pac-Man and it has rekindled the fun-factor in the original Pac-Man games for me... I love how when Pac-Man eats honey he becomes drunk and milk-bukakes himself.

Speaking about great adventure games...

Red, since you do the magazine gig, you should try to cover the Dreamfall beat. If it is as good as The Longest Journey for PC, this game and company are single-handedly rebuilding the first-person dialogued adventure genre.

I've actually talked to one of the programmers of the series and he seems interested in talking about the development of The Longest Journey, but he hasn't currently conveyed any interest in talking about Dreamfall since new games aren't really my gig. Enno is his name. I'm not like closely conversing with this guy, but he seems cool, nice, and generally interested in telling people about what he does. Just a thought.

I'm reviewing it for Wired.

EDIT: Dreamfall isn't first-person, it's third person 3D. And they aren't single-handedly doing anything, The Adventure Company has had a steady output of software, and The Indigo Prophecy came out on consoles late last year.

I hacked the Genesis version, and some SNES. I'm probably the only one to come up with a mood mod aka energy? mod.

http://www.thegshi.org

I did try to come up with a code to get all them pacman cartridges but came up emptyhanded.

Oh for the love of god.

Okay, you said that FunCom is "singlehandedly rebuilding the first-person dialogued adventure genre."

I said no, they're not singlehandedly rebuilding the first-person dialogued adventure genre, first of all because they've never made a first-person dialogued adventure game, and second of all because other developers are making adventure games. I then listed specific examples.

Then you said, "DUR!!! WHO ELSE IS MAKING DREAMFALL."

And I showed that I never said anyone besides Funcom is developing Dreamfall, I was replying to your implication that Funcom is the only developer putting out adventure games, by saying they are not.

And then you said "DUR! I DON'T UNDERSTAND."

And now I'm explaining it again, again.

Are we caught up now?
