[Ichiban Crush]

This is something that just popped to mind today while I was sitting at work crosseyed and drooling (slow day). I'm pretty sure someone probably brought it up in the past, but I haven't heard anything on it.

Can't remember what issue of Nintendo Power this was mentioned in, but there was a blurb about a Rocky game for NES that American Sammy was working on. I never saw any screencaps of it, so I'm guessing it's one of those games that probably never got really far into development.

Any info out there other than the NP article?

There's a Rocky game on the Master System, I don't know if there's any direct correlation though.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been a port of the Master System game. I think the NES game was mentioned in NP sometime around the third wave (SMB3, TMNT2...), and given the quality of the SMS game, which was kinda just "fair" for it's time, and the depht that most games at that time were aiming for, a port of that version would have been dumb.

Either that or Sammy really did try porting the SMS game and it flunked Nintendo's quality standards.

That Rocky game kept being listed as "coming soon" in quite a few issues of NP. If any unreleased game has a prototype floating around out there, it would be this one.
