The movie claims this is from a Salamander sample rom. Its the fourth stage, only all the graphics are garbled, and the music playing is completely different. I don't know if its legit or not. (I don't recognize the music at all.)

I know I've seen at least one demo cartridge of Salamander before. I'm pretty certain it stopped after a few stages with a "Coming Soon" message, like that dumped Mad City proto and several other Konami demo carts. That video is probably the result of forcing the game to continue beyond the Coming Soon screen.

Reminds me of that proto of Ninja Gaiden 2 that does something like that, though it can be hacked to go beyond that with very weird results. I have a NG2 proto just like this, though there's a review someone posted of theirs that is slightly different than mine (different version, I guess). Mine came from the PowerWalk section of the Nintendo World Championships 1990.

Vey cool theory, though, Skrybe! Maybe soemone could ask the person who posted it where they got it?

Damn, I'm just about certain this is the same guy that outbid me on YJ. His blog entry on obtaining the proto was made right after the closing date of the Salamander proto I was bidding on.
