Call me old fashion but every now and again I like to plow through a roll of quarters at an arcade. I understand that the arcade is a dying form, host now to mostly DDR machines, and a slew of racing units, but I still wonder...

Why aren't there any sites that list upcoming Arcade unit releases? The closest I've come is a site for vendors to purchase units, and what new units will be shipping. I mean, in an age where there are literally thousands of gaming news sites/blogs, I find it a bit curious that noone cares enough about arcade gaming anymore to maybe cover what will be coming soon to an arcade near you. Perhaps even reviews, previews, etc.

BTW - I'm strictly speaking of North American arcades, I'm sure Japan has plenty of sites covering their territory.

Because there aren't any arcade games coming out, I'd be surprised if more than six reasonably high profile arcade games came out in the United States a year, and they're all the same old driving, shooting, or retro compilation cabinets.

The arcade situation right now is pretty sad. I can't even find a pinball machine to play anymore Sad

Well here's the site I was referencing above. As you can see it's mostly Pinball and Racing games.

And I wasn't asking for an entire site dedicated to our pathetic arcade scene, but maybe one of the sites could give a little coverage. Or maybe it's just that I'm depressed (exaggeration!) about the state of America's arcade industry.

I made a vow about ten years ago that if I'm ever stable enough to own a home, I will also own Fun House. And god damn it, I'm going to.

Fun House! Great pinball there. Really Great Pinball. Addams Family and Twilight Zone are also two more that I like that come to mind quickly. So many good pinball games.

When and/or if that happens, you are having a party and I am coming over.

No U.S. release for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core? WHAT THE FUCK

But hey, that Aliens gun game looks kind of fun.

The only other thing on the list that I really want to play is Metal Slug 6, and that's coming out on the PSP and Wii next month, anyway.

Yeah, I was kinda hoping that list wasn't complete. But my efforts are coming up short, as I can't find anything with more upcoming units. I assume US will eventually get Mario Kart GP 2 which was recently announced in Japan.
Improvements? New drivers include Waluigi and... Tamagotchi? WTF.
Also if you played the first one, you should be familiar with the digital camera that snaps your photo and slaps some Mario props on your face for in-game use. Well, they fleshed that out a bit to have some other Photo-booth style props giving the player stupid hair and shit like that. I would also assume new tracks. Maybe not.

And I agree, the Aliens game looks pretty decent. At least from seeing only the unit and nothing else. House of Dead 4 sucks shit. Shaking the gun to get zombies off of you = annoying.

whaaat, House of the Dead 4 is AWESOME. I hated it at first, but now I really dig it... it definitely makes up for the disappointment that was part 3. As for the gun shaking... the problem most people make is that they try to shake the gun up and down. Just hold the gun away from you and shake it left to right instead, it's MUCH easier. I never had a problem with the gun shaking sequences when I first started playing it.

and wow, I'd never heard of that Aliens Extermination game. Apparently one of the local nickel arcades around here has it. I'll try to check it out soon and let you guys know how it is!
