Let's see if Jurai's "big boy resolution" can handle this...
Normally i would shrink these down a bit, but it's worth it for this.
Developers frequently use a trick that enables them to take far higher resolution screen shots then would normally be allowed off a standard TV signal. Generally they will freeze the game, force the game to take 9 or so screen shots in a row all lined up, then transfer the shots to a PC. From there, they reassemble the shots into one large picture. Sony gave these pictures to the press prior to the launch of Shadow of the Colossus. They are "in game" but have been created in the manner stated above. They're big, really big. Oh, neat, I always wondered how they did those shots. I have some for ICO floating around somewhere. |

I thought they grabbed the data direct from the machine's framebuffer? |

Well, I think that's true too, but some of these shots are larger than the PS2's native resolution (look at the really tall ones on Ace's board). |
