I was recently on a Rom site and stumbled upon this Panda Squaresoft Mode 7 Demo. Anyone here know if he/she? was ever in any games?

Here is the file if your wondering.

Why does clicking that link just open this topic in another tab in Firefox, and in another window in IE?

Because they're utilizing mod_rewrite or something similar to redirect linkers back to the page they linked from. Copy and paste the link into your browser and it'll download. (..which is something I actually never thought of. Redirecting to bad pictures or fake 404 pages is one thing, redirecting back to the referrer might be genius. GENIUS.)

Highly doubtful that this is anything other than a PD demo. The Panda looks like your average furry. I dunno, search around for cartoon pandas.

Right-click - save linked file.

Also, I don't think this panda furry was in any games. Except maybe Super Furry Sex RapeFighter Gaiden.

I thought I was the only one who played that.

So did I. Damn, and the guy told me it was a one-of-a-kind exclusive proto, too. I feel cheated.

The arcade version is much better anyway.

OMG!  :LAUGHING OUT LOUD:

I drew that when I was in high school.

(and yes, it is embarrasingly bad)

In highschool, myself and a friend of mine managed to get a tour of Squaresoft USA (Redmond, WA 1994, right next door to Irem (they had a cool sign))

Anyway, it was for some job shadowing type deal, and for part of the thing, they made each of us a SNES cart with a pic on a mode 7 BG. My friend (Craig Bergman, super loser) lost his copy (with a different pic on it) and then "borrowed" mine.

At the time, they were making Secret of Evermore, and I got to see the artists working on BG's, some kid in an orange vest, and a tree monster.

I guess someone managed to find and dump this piece of crap.

It's just some stupid little demo thing burnt onto a cart, nothing more than a souvenir.

Yeah, that's pretty amazing actually. I thought it was just another dumb homebrew, but man.

I also have a feeling that cart's worth a lot more than you'd think, if it's still out there. Anything that comes from Square is hardly worthless.

Yeah, you're right, sorry, didn't mean to offend, Skrybe. Wink I'll edit in case anyone else is. Looks like an emo Sonic, though...Like Sonic thrown in a Final Fantasy game (can't have FF w/o a bunch of androgynous characters, of course). Appropriate that it's a Square demo, I guess. Very Happy Basically, I would have never known it was a Raccoon, unless someone told me. Something tells me the drawing was much cooler before it was all pixelated and hard to make out.

But it's not a Raccoon, it's a Panda.
