|
|
So I finished Gyruss for the Famicom Disk System some time ago. For a game released in 1988 it has a very nice ending sequence.
Not bad huh? Now then on to the US ending:
....
Yeah that's it. That is all that happens after going through 39 stages. No cutscenes, no credits, nothing. Thanks a lot Konami USA.
It wasn't just the ending that was altered in the US Gyruss. The FDS version also had a different intro sequence. If anybody wants to make an attempt at translating what this says, feel free.

Total speculation here, but that stuff could have been cut to reduce ROM size, which would lower production costs. |

Probably, the ending is stored entirely on side A of the disk image. Still I feel Konami could've tried a little harder for the ending on the cart version. |

Konami always seemed to be way ahead of their time. Games like Salamander (1987) or Gradius II (1988) wouldn't have looked terribly out of place in a 1992 game lineup.
Having their own advanced (for the time) mapper hardware probably helped things. |

Arnold:
Is that all the pics from the Gyruss ending? Nothing was left out when it comes to the text?
I put those pics on another forum to see if they can translate them there. |

I like the Demon Sword ending in those posts. I can't read a bit of it, but Bonji is a beautiful writing system. |
