Yeah, another really old topic, but I got back to thinking about the
title screen codes in this game.
("I AM NOT KONANI" and "I AM NOT NANCO")
Yeah, we kinda wondered once what Namco had to do with that.
I wonder if it could just be a knock on the two companies.
I was thinking how they have got to be the two most well-known self-refencial companies I know of (using their name or other characters as background detail). :)
I just thought about this watching someone's Let's Play Marvel Land video (Marvel Land is a cute platformer by Namco for Genesis, ported from arcade).
They wondered why the highest possible level-clear bonus was 7650 points (one possible Japanese pronounciation of "7 6 5" is a pun on Namco. Several Konami games had a default high score of 57,300 for a similar reason.)

That "Nanco" message is never actually used in the game, is it? BMF and CaH4e3 have both picked through the rom, and neither of them found any sort of controller code to display it.

I remember the discussion of a code that might have been intended to display it, but doesn't. (as like the backwards and forwards Konami code, there were two similar codes and only one worked)

Ah, you're right. The invincibility code (Up A Right B Down A Left B Select) also makes a tone when entered backwards, but it doesn't seem to do anything more than that.

Backwards Konami code? What's this about? I haven't read any discussion on this. Interested to know more, though!

If you enter the Konami code on the title screen of Cosmic Epsilon, which was published by Asmik, the message "I AM NOT KONANI" pops up. On the other hand, if you enter the Konami code backwards, it'll activate a stage select.

OK, I think I'm following now, just a little out of the loop (man, I wish I was one of the cool kids, lolz).

So, the Nanco thing is in the code, but there's no way to activate it? And there's no famous Namco egg that can be done backwards? Heh. Wink

Yeah, the Nanco text is in the rom, but it doesn't seem to be used. The invincibility code I mentioned earlier in the thread gives a tone if entered backwards, but doesn't seem to do anything else. I think the assumption is that code was ment to display the message, though I dunno what relation, if any, that code has to Namco.

The same message seems to be in ''The Battles of 3D World Runner'' when anyone enters the Konami Code.

Just a fact.

That's funny, I can't seem to find it in either the FDS or cartridge version.

yeah i think someone just confused one space-harrier-esque game with 3d glasses support for another space-harrier-esque game with 3d glasses support somewhere along the line.

(i think cosmic epsilon was developed by home data though, who also made that astro boy game for konami, maybe that has something to do with it)

Deadguy2322, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Konami_code_games
There is much more wrong info. Wink
Like mistical game "NBA Give ‘N Go" Wink, maybe I miss something?
"Tom & Jerry (and Tuffy)" have code for inv. but it totally different from konami.
"Tetris" actually uses konami-like code but without first two symbols.
Also some konami-cheat games missed at least for NES:
After entering code for 64 lives in "Bad Dudes" you can enter konami code to get extra punch power.
"F-1 sensation" does nothing but sounds confirms correct code entry.
"Hototogisu" can repeat demo sequence if you enter konami code at end of it.
"Jarinko Chie" also seems does nothing, but sound confirms.
"Koushien" have secret team which can be enabled by using konami cheat.
"Legend of the Ghost Lion" have this cheat disabled, but can be used somehow. Japanese version haven't it totally.
"Meimon! Takonishi Ouendan - Kouha 6 Nin Shuu" inv code may be entered at password show screen. In addition if you enter this code forward and backward in row you will see game credits.
"Navy Blue" have sound test enabled by this code.
The same as "North & South".
Finally "Rampart" have this code totally disabled, only data and some code left.

It need entering inv. code first. Enter this code normally then backwards and message "(c)1989 home data" will appear.

I'd really like to see those credits. I'm trying, and I'm not getting anything. What am I supposed to press and when?
