|
|
So I've been really interested in Arcadia VI lately, but have come up pretty dry on my hunt for info. The infamous "Head shots" from BuyAtari seem to have disappeared from all I can tell, and I haven't been able to find any info on the game beyond a few forum posts.
Has anyone here had the opportunity to play it at a trade show?
What is the format of the game like?
Anyone have info on the 4 finished games? What were their names and how did they play?
Who was developing this game? Any word on why it was never released?
Was there any info regarding a possible release of this game in any magazines or whatnot?
How many prototypes are known? (I'm under the assumption that there have been just the one)
Are there any screenshots (even the "head" pictures) that show gameplay in any form?
I'm hoping you guys could help me out, I'd love to know more about it and somewhere down the line see it released to the public in one form or another! |

I'd love to hear all about it, and I know most people were not very happy about the way it was sold. Does the game itself suck? Do people not care about whether they see a release or not? |

Arcadia VI was going to be a compilation of six incredibly basic mini-games - think Action 52 in scope, but only six titles. The prototype that's out there has only four games implemented: a vertical shooter (Xerxes), a vertical car-racing game (Twin Cam Turbo), a Pong clone (Tennis), and I believe an overhead on-foot shooter a la Commando or Ikari Warriors (Ghurka). They're all broken and unfinished, with nothing really interesting to latch on to. Sure it would be nice to preserve the ROM and get it online, but no, to be honest I don't really care about it all that much. |

Here's some screens from the game that don't have anyone's head in the way. |

Thanks for the info and the screen shots guys, that's exactly what I was looking for. The screens seem interesting to me, I title screen looks pretty nifty too. How broken are the games? I wonder if there are any unused sprites/program on the game that can be looked into if it were dumped, I'd love to know more about the design process of this one. |

I only played one of them for more than a few seconds, the one I remember as being comparable to Ikari Warriors. I remember being able to walk through all of the environments, and that the one level in the game just kind of ended - no boss or anything, I just reached the end and was stuck until I hit Reset. I vaguely remember graphical glitches and stuff on the others too, it was super super early. No real game yet, just a proof of concept. |

Probably so. I think DreamTR owns the proto now, he might be willing to dump it if he's reimbursed for it, though lately he seems to be leaning more towards making repros instead of releasing roms. |

Well, since a repro of this wouldn't be a good idea considering the unfinished nature of the cart, he'd probably be more likely to dump it instead...with reimbursement, of course.
