Boing Boing posted an interesting article today about Elevator Action DS.
As far as is known, nothing was done as far as development but concept art was created by the artist Harvey James and is included in the article. I'm not sure if there's ever been a more awesomely awesome weapon than an NES Zapper that "charges from a tea kettle full of battery acid, which [you] can also hit people with." If Taito isn't going to use James' work, these characters are just begging for a Flash game at the very least.
Also, I wasn't aware that Elevator Action Returns was reskinned as a Dexter's Laboratory game, although GameFAQs did, so apparently it's not uncommon knowledge.
Well thats kinda awesome. i dunno how well known this is, but the wii game "spy games: elevator mission" was originally supposed to be an elevator action game too. although i think taito dropped it before 2008 (apparently at the behest of square-enix, probably because it wasn't very good) so it probably wasn't intended as a companion game to this one.
