Saw this on GDRI's twitter. An Irem promotional video that includes a lot of footage of the unreleased Legend of Hero Tonma FC port. There's also some short footage of their cancelled FC strategy game "Geopolitic Shima ni Okeru Kokka Koubou Ron" in the video. |

Cool. Here's another video where you can hear some of the music from the FC version: https://youtu.be/-72iNvSv3BY?t=376
The reviewer says that you can get all the way to the ending too easily. So, yeah, probably near-complete.
Incidentally, another Irem video has announcements for PC-Engine conversions of Dragon Breed and Meikyuu Jima (Kickle Cubicle), neither of which ever got released: https://youtu.be/nc9b5WUgdOs?t=221 |

Looks fun. I like the NES hero's sprite better than the one from the original arcade version, where he has a face like a creepy porcelain doll from the 1920s.
Any idea why it was canceled? In the absence of actual information, I will blame the tree boss. Ultimate Journey and Happily Ever After also have tree bosses, and that can't be a coincidence. |

Wasn't there an auction a few years ago, on yahoo Japan, for an empty Legend of Hero Tonma Famicom cart (just the outer case, with tentative front and back label art)?
If I remember, it looked pretty far along, except that Irem hadn't assigned the game a serial number. |
