Wow. I can't believe screenshots have emerged for the Nes version. This was one of my most interested unreleased Nes games for a long time, simply cause I was curious just how the hell the developers were going to try to port that game. I eventually relented, and figured it was probably going to be transformed into just another Nes racing game with a view behind the car.

But now these screens just had to emerge and confirm that they truly were attempting a straight port. Now my interest is completely rekindled. Hope to hear from Mark Morris. Maybe he can answer the question everyone's dying to know.

Did he program the cow into the game, and does it yell a digitized moo when you hit it? :P

Yeah, a week or so ago we determined that this was one of the games that should be removed from the gamefaqs database, as there was a 99% chance it ever existed. This is one of the last games I EVER expected to see an NES screenshot for.

I think the three Mark Morrises should start a band called Mark and the Morrises.

Isn't it obvious? It should totally be The Mark Morris Trio.

If there had been a final release of that game and it featured no insane flicker effects, it would have been impressive.

I used to have Race Drivin for the Gameboy. It's probably fairly close to what the NES port would of been like...

Holy crap! I wonder if he had an extra processor for polygons on the cart, like that tank game...

If he didn't use polygons at all, that is some amazing wizardry. I'd love to see how he created the illusion of scaling on 3D-ish objects for the NES.

If you're talking about Ian Bell's tank demo, it didn't have any extra processors. Just the NES CPU, and good coding. Also, the polygons were wireframe, not filled like Hard Driving apparently was to be.

That's weird, I didn't see that last time I clicked it. Looks like a nice port.

I gotta disagree here based on those screens. Here's one I took from Race Drivin' for GB:

The "scaling" they did was the closer you got to the ramp or any other "polygonal" object, it would increase the amount of 'checkers' you see thuse making the object appear larger. In practice this made for almost unrecognizable objects during actual play (Yeah you can make it out in the screen shot but when its moving it looks like a bunch of garbled up black and white blocks)

Those NES shots look more solid than these (not just because of the colors either) Who knows how it looked in practice, but as is, they are pretty far from each other IMO.

Here's some video of gameplay I put on YouTube.

Hehe, wow, it's been ages since I played that game. I forgot just how bad it was Rolling Eyes I meant generally, though. I figured they couldn't quite get that much out of the GB...

I think I may have a one or two more screenshots of this game in some of my old gaming magazines, I'll keep an eye out when I clean out my closet this week.

Ashamed to admit, I actually own the Sega Saturn version of this game with it's miraculous 'REAL' mode, featuring horrible low-res 2D trees everywhere.
