Two corrections:
1. Lethal Weapon, it turns out, actually was released in PAL format. In fact, for some bizarre and awful reason it's the cover of the very first issue of Nintendo Magazine System (later Nintendo Official Magazine UK).
2. I dumped the retail version Maniac Mansion en espanol, and it's identical to our prototype. |

I like how that one guy over at DP bitched for months via email, PM, and the forums about releasing MC Kids, and now that it's out he's not even replying to the thread.
And thanks for the corrections, Frank. I'll get to fixing those soon. |

How about the other PAL cartridges I sent? Are all of them recognized by GoodNES?
EDIT: By the way, somebody should tell the SCUMMVM guys so they'll add support for these Spanish and prototype versions of Maniac Mansion.

Yep, all of them.
Also, both games are supported by ScummVM, but I don't know if they're "publicly" supported or not. Quietust has a little tool that breaks the ROM down into its core SCUMM parts and you can run it from there. |

I suggested in the request tracker that they add support for the prototype and received the answer, "And where can I buy this, again?" So no, it doesn't look "public" support.
I have tried to use the prototype with ScummVM after stripping the iNES header, but it doesn't recognize its MD5sum. It's quite possible I did something wrong, of course. |

Silly preservationist. People always constantly dump their own carts of the retail version to play.
.........right? |

Oh well. Once you guys are done with the GameBoy games, please send them back when you have the time. I just got ahold of a PAL NES to try them on.
And on the subject of Maniac Mansion, as I've pointed out before some of the current dumps seem to have a different mapper number in the header, so does anybody know if these versions used different mappers than the others, or are the headers incorrect or what?
PS: I'm not talking about the Japanese version, obviously. |

What dumps are you talking about? All the non-FC dumps I've seen are set to mapper 1. |

The mapper byte in the French and US proto ROMs I have is set to 13, whereas the Spanish, UK, Swedish and final US ROMs have it set to 12.
Or is that not the mapper value? |

I'm not sure what you're looking at, but NesToy says both the Spanish and prototype versions I posted are set to mapper 1. |

Perhaps the second digit sets the kind of mirroring or something... I'm no expert but shouldn't it be the same anyway? |

Yeah, the lowest 4 bits (right digit) of offset 0x00006 set mirroring, battery, trainer, and something else. |

Yep, it's probably the mirroring. I know that isn't set consistently among the various dumps. It should be the same across all of them, but no one really pays mirroring any attention unless it messes up the gameplay. |
